Australia – Hobiegirls enjoy a few days off

We have early morning starts here with Michala and I getting the blog and photographs uploaded.  Internet connection is very poor and takes a lot of time just to place it on the server and we have to find some local café with wifi, but at least we get breakfast at the same time.  John Fergusson who owns KIOSK at Jervis Bay has kindly lent us another bike.

The girls have 3 days off before the semi finals take place, so we decided that we would take our bikes and explore the area around Huskissons. The bike ride is spectacular, with a path following along the oceanfront, passing beautiful holiday houses along the way.

I have been noticing that Michala has a tendency to use the word ‘naughty’.  I decided to monitor this situation for a few days and now I have finally understood why she thinks they are so naughty!  With my penchant for revisiting films in my blog (yes I know I have only mentioned one so far, but there will be another later), I realise that the film ‘lost in translation’ comes to mind).  Fræk, directly translated ,  means cheeky but Michala thought it meant naughty.  I was beginning to get worried they were up to all manner of  ‘ naughty ‘ things without my knowledge.  I am happy to have that problem out the way.

Anyway back to the bike ride.  Honestly there is so much to keep track of here I have to digress every now and then.  Ok, ok we found a beautiful beach, parked our bikes,  in a no bike zone…..it never ends with these two breaking the rules , and walked down a path to a beach stretching for 3 km with hardly anyone on it.  We decided to take a swim but not before Kirsten insists on wearing her new shortie wet suit.  You’d think she was in Denmark and not 33 degrees warmth of Australia.  After a short fashion shoot on the beach, we decided it was quite a sexy shorty (well finally we can use Michala’s word naughty), we all jumped in the surf….well actually that’s not quite true, as Kirsten didn’t quite get in.

Finally we move onto the serious task of sunbathing.  Lying on this white sand, with the blue sea, enjoying the warmth of the sun, the wind starts to pick up again and we find ourselves in a bit of a sand storm.  Yoanna decides that instead of being Don Corleone, she is in fact Laurence of Arabia, wrapping a scarf around her face.  I told you another film was coming..  After 10 minutes we resembled a group who had been on ‘walk about’ in the Bush for the last 7 weeks and we decided to get back to the more comfortable activity of bike riding.

We are taking lots of photographs, videos, etc., which we hope you are enjoying on our blog.  Each evening we come back to the apartment and sort through which photos, etc., we will use the next day.  Michala is fantastic with graphics, videos, etc., and it was great that she brought a go pro camera on the trip.  We couldn’t wait to see the footage, until we realised that she had been embracing the new trend of selfies and we had to look through around 450 of these first.  I suspect these go pro cameras take a bit of time to get used to.

Ok, back to the real business of why we are here.  The qualifiers took place today with only 3 races due to the winds increasing up to 30 knots, resulting in the boats having to come back in to shore.

Two more days of qualifiers have to take place before the girls are back sailing in the semi finals.

Exhausted we headed to bed with a plan to find some Kangaroos tomorrow.  Final comment from Michala before she fell asleep, look forward to seeing the camels tomorrow.  Looks like we are back to Laurence of Arabia.

p.s. good news, Michala found the keys but lost her bloody money
