The Hobiegirls are heading down under. The dream continues…

After winter training Michala, Yoanna and Kirsten are heading to Australia 1-15 of February to sail in the Worlds largest Hobie 16 World Championships. Destination NSW Australia estimates the event will deliver an economic impact of close to $3.4 million; (source: Minister for Tourism and Major Events, George Souris).

More than 365 Hobie teams, comprising almost 500 competitors from 27 countries will battle it out during the 16-day sailing regatta on the idyllic waters of Jervis Bay. A single class, multi-hull event, the regatta ensures a level playing field for competitors, where all will be sailing in identical Hobie catamarans. Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase said: “The Hobie 16 World Championships will attract local and international visitors…”

Steve Fields Managing Director of Hobie Cat Australia said: “These are fantastic numbers. With the consistent winds making Jervis Bay one of the world’s top 5 sailing locations, add to that kangaroos and the natural beauty of the Shoalhaven region as well as the whole Aussie small town experience, it’s no wonder we’re looking forward to being at the Worlds largest Hobie 16® World Championships!” Link to The World Championship: http://hobieworlds.com.
